A Few Good Things with Chris Young

2025

September Edition

Welcome to the September 2025 edition of A Few Good Things.

Multiplying Good Places in the Season of Harvest

There’s something about the fall season that stirs our hearts. The air cools, the leaves turn, and creation reminds us that life is made up of cycles—of planting, growing, and harvesting. It’s a season of both beauty and abundance, where we see the multiplication of what began as a single seed.

At The Good Place Institute, we see the same principle at work in organizations. One decision, one leader, one act of stewardship can plant a seed that multiplies into something far greater. A business grounded in Kingdom principles can become a Good Place—not just for its people, but for its community. And just like fall reveals the fruit of a season’s labor, the multiplication of Good Places reveals God’s design for flourishing.

Fall reminds us that multiplication is woven into creation itself. Trees drop seeds that grow into new life. Fields produce harvests that feed families and fill communities. In the same way, leaders are called to cultivate environments where people can flourish, organizations can thrive, and communities can prosper.

This season, as you notice the colors changing and the harvest coming in, may it also remind you of the Kingdom invitation before us: to multiply Good Places wherever we are planted.

Multiplying Good Places in Real Time

Every leader wants their organization to thrive. But thriving doesn’t happen by accident—it happens by design. At The Good Place Institute, we’ve seen that organizations built on Kingdom principles multiply good in ways that last: people flourish, organizations become regenerative, and communities prosper.

The challenge? Moving from intention to implementation. Many leaders agree with the vision but struggle to put it into practice. That’s why we’re gathering for the Kingdom Business Activation Summit on Thursday, October 16 in Columbus, Ohio.

This isn’t just another conference. It’s a hands-on experience where you’ll:

  • Work through the Good Place Organization Operating System Playbook
  • Complete the Kingdom Organization Assessment
  • Learn how to align systems, leadership, and culture so Good Places can grow and multiply

Multiplying Good Places begins with leaders who take practical steps. The Summit is designed to help you do just that.

Branches Summit

We’re celebrating alongside our client, Southwest Exteriors, whose marketing team recently won the Purposeful Humanity award at IMPACT Live!

Their video, Serving With Heart, shows what a people-first culture looks like — from helping a client carry groceries, to fixing a gate latch, to promising to make things right when mistakes happen.

Even beyond this, SWE’s leadership is raising the bar for integrity in marketing. CEO Ryan Shutt recently shared:

“We don’t make claims we can’t back up. We educate, not manipulate. We prioritize trust over transactions.”

This is what it means to be a Good Place Organization — where people flourish, organizations thrive, and communities prosper.

👏 Congratulations to the entire SWE team!

Multiplying Good Places – A Conversation with Chuck Proudfit

In a recent conversation with Chuck Proudfit of At Work on Purpose, I reflected on how a simple but profound question God placed on my wife’s and my heart two decades ago - “God, what’s Your purpose for work?”- grew into The Good Place Institute. Together, Chuck and I explored how peer cohorts of leaders are helping one another multiply Good Places by applying both biblical wisdom and the Good Place Operating System.
