Talk Is Not Enough
I’ve noticed something over the years: leaders love to talk. We talk about generosity, culture, values, evangelism, stewardship. All good things. But talking about them doesn’t change our organizations. Action does.
If you want to see people flourish, communities prosper, and your business become truly regenerative, you must move from ideas to practice. Here’s what that looks like:
- Define your charter. Purpose is not a marketing slogan. It’s the foundation for every decision you make. When you don’t take the time to clarify why your organization exists, busyness or imitation will write the story for you.
- Name your unique identity. Every organization has something God has gifted it to do better than anyone else. Discovering that takes time and courage, but clarity always multiplies impact.
- Measure what matters. Profit is important, but it’s not the whole story. A Good Place leader measures outcomes that show whether people are growing, communities are healthier, and the organization is stewarding resources wisely.
- Invest in people. Training equips people to do their job well. Education shows them why it matters. Development helps them grow into their full human potential. When you invest in people, you’re stewarding image-bearers of God — and that changes everything.
- Lead as a steward. Ownership clings to control. Stewardship recognizes that everything — people, assets, opportunities — has been entrusted to us. My role as a leader is not to own, but to care, cultivate, and multiply what God has given.
None of this is flashy. It doesn’t make headlines. But this is where transformation happens.
If you find yourself stuck in the land of talk, let me encourage you: take one step. Write down your charter. Schedule time with your team to ask the hard questions. Start measuring outcomes beyond the financials. Choose one person to intentionally develop this month.
Talk inspires. Action transforms.
It’s time to stop talking about building Good Places and start taking the steps to make them real.

Kingdom Business Activation Summit
The Kingdom Business Activation Summit held at the Quest Conference Center in Columbus, Ohio on Thursday October 16th was a powerful and inspiring gathering that moved beyond inspiration to real activation. The GPI team equipped participants with
clear, actionable strategies for defining and measuring Kingdom success criteria in their organizations.
A highlight of the day was hearing from Dan Lorenz, who shared his firsthand experience implementing the Good Place Operating System and the transformative impact it’s had on his businesses and the mindset of his leaders. The “Joe Knows Energy” and “Realize Your Calling” leadership shared that working with GPI has reshaped how their leaders view their goals and redefine what true success looks like through a Kingdom lens. The group also engaged in a brief organizational assessment, gaining valuable insights into their current systems and processes. This practical step empowered leaders to identify where they are today and envision where God is leading their organizations next. The summit left attendees encouraged, equipped, and aligned to build businesses that truly reflect Kingdom values.
