A Few Good Things with Chris Young

2025

May Edition

Welcome to the May 2025 edition of A Few Good Things.

Is Your Organization a Good Place? Here’s One Way to Know

At The Good Place Institute, we’ve worked with business owners, nonprofit leaders, and team builders who all ask a version of the same question:

“How do I know if we’re on the right track?”

Sometimes it’s asked with a tinge of self-doubt. Other times with curiosity. But the underlying longing is the same—a desire to steward well what God has entrusted.

That’s why we created the Good Place Assessment.

The Assessment is more than a checklist or a performance review. It’s a simple, intentional tool designed to help you reflect on your organization’s alignment with the values and practices of a Good Place:

  • Where people flourish
  • Where the organization thrives
  • And where the community prospers

It’s an invitation to pause, reflect, and ask:

  • Are we operating with a clear Charter?
  • Do our systems reflect our values—or distract from them?
  • Are we cultivating a workplace marked by shalom?

The best part? It’s not about perfection. It’s about direction. Whether you score high or discover areas that need attention, the goal is the same: to align your purpose with your practices so your organization can become the kind of place God designed it to be.

Want to see where your organization stands?
Take the first step with the Good Place Assessment.

Bring GPI to Dallas

The Good Place Institute was represented at this year's Christian Leadership Alliance's Outcomes 25 conference in Dallas, TX (April 28-May 1).

With an estimated 1200 attendees and over 50 exhibitors, this leadership event included many C-level leaders and their teams from all over the country.  The content focus was primarily on equipping non-profit executives with the key resources they need to succeed and lead their organizations with excellence, with an emphasis on "seek first the Kingdom of God."

We met with various organizations, including The Salvation Army, Joni and Friends, Friends of the Great Commission, Urbana Missions Conference, The Focus Group, Integrus, The Consultancy, The Navigators, and On Mission Advisors among others.

We're looking forward to growing opportunities with these organizations as they aspire to greater outcomes in 2025!

“Why Every Organization Needs a Charter”

In a recent episode of the Business is Good podcast, Chris Young unpacks one of the foundational elements of a Good Place Organization: the Charter. More than a plaque on the wall or a generic purpose statement, a Charter is a living document that articulates why an organization exists. It weaves together purpose, mission, vision, values, and biblical inspiration to align an organization’s strategy and culture with God’s design.

Chris and co-host Jim Brandenburg explores why starting with "why" matters, diving into the biblical roots of purpose found in Genesis. Chris explains that a well-developed Charter influences everything—from leadership decisions and employee alignment to organizational resilience and economic regeneration.

Whether you're a CEO or team leader, this episode challenges you to reimagine success not just by metrics, but by meaning.
